If you choose to delete
an insurer An entity licensed by OIR under Chapter 624 (p. III) or Chapter 641 (p. I) of the Florida Statutes., all closed claim A demand for payment from a self-insured entity or an insurer for losses sustained by a claimant. or aggregate reports associated with that
insurer will be deleted.
Setting Up a Licensed Insurer
This page will walk you through adding an OIR licensed insurer from
DFS Florida Department of Financial Services's database to use for your closed claim or aggregate report. If you
do not have an OIR licensed insurer in your Workbench, the screen will
appear as it does below.

To Add a Licensed Insurer to Your Workbench
If you
wish to add an OIR licensed insurer to your Workbench:
Click the Add
New Insurer button. The Search for an OIR Licensed Insurer page
will display.

The Search for an OIR
Licensed Insurer page allows you to search DFS's database for a licensed
insurer to use for your closed claim or aggregate report. First, select
whether the search should be Anywhere, Starts With or Exact Match.
Anywhere
- Selecting this search parameter will enable a search on any information
entered into the field. For example, you could type a few digits of an
NAIC company code, a few letters from part of a company name, etc. and
the search would return all data relevant to whatever information you
typed into the field.
Starts
With - Selecting this search parameter will enable a search based
on the beginning of a field's text. For example, you could type "All"
and "Allstate" would be one of the companies returned in the
search results, or "36418" and all FEINs beginning with those
numbers would appear in the search results.
Exact
Match - This search parameter is the most specific. The search
will look for the exact information you enter into the search field. If
the search criteria does not match the exact information you enter into
the field, no results will be returned. For example, if you searched on
"Allstate", no results would be returned. You must know the
complete name of the company (e.g., Allstate Floridian Indemnity Payment made on behalf of insured to a plaintiff for damages. Company)
if you choose to use exact match.
Fill in the following
fields as appropriate to help refine your search:
Insurer Name
The name of the insurance company you are looking
for.
FEIN
The company's nine-digit Federal Employer Identification
Number (FEIN). You can enter the FEIN with or without the dash. For example,
you can enter '59-2238371' or '592238371' to retrieve the company 'Ace
Finance Corporation'.
NAIC Company Code
The company's five-digit National Association
of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) company code.
Click the Search
button. The results of your search will be displayed on the Select an
OIR Licensed Insurer page.

Click the radio button
next to the name of the insurer you wish to add to your Workbench.
Click the Next
button. The
insurer you selected will be added to your Workbench and will now appear
on the OIR Licensed Insurer page.

Deleting Licensed Insurers
You may delete a licensed insurer you no longer
provide services for or accidentally added to your workbench. However,
please note that if you choose to delete an insurer, all closed claim
or aggregate reports associated with that insurer will be deleted. PLCR
will warn you of this fact and ask you to confirm the deletion if you
have closed claim or aggregate reports associated with that insurer.
To Delete an Insurer
Click the radio button next to the name of the
insurer you wish to delete from your Workbench.
