Objectives:
|
To provide financial assistance to counties, municipalities, special districts, or special tax districts to remodel or expand existing public library facilities, or construct new public library facilities.

Restrictions:

A project is not eligible for a grant when the state portion of the project will be less than $10,000; or the project will result in a total building of less than 3,000 square feet; or the project will not result in a complete library facility. The total maximum grant award is $500,000. Grantees must match grant awards dollar-for-dollar, unless the matching requirement is waived by S. 288.06561 and 288.0656, F.S.

Application Procedures:
|
Prospective applicants may obtain "Public Library Construction Grant Guidelines and Forms" from the INFORMATION CONTACT or at the web address listed below. Applications must be submitted online.
|

Award Procedures:
|
Applications are reviewed for eligibility and completeness. Applicants with deficient applications are given 30 days to complete and correct deficiencies. When all eligible applications are determined by the Division to be sufficient and complete, the Division will evaluate and rank grant applications according to application criteria. Grant award amounts are based on the appropriation of funds from the Legislature. Grant funds will be distributed in four payments on a reimbursement basis (30 percent, 30 percent, 30 percent, and 10 percent) for costs incurred during construction.
