Grants
Non-Profit
The family unit/caregivers are individuals whose primary residence is with a frail, homebound elderly individual specifically for the purpose of providing care for that individual. The family unit/caregivers receive respite based on an assessment determining that: (1) the family unit is unable to pay for respite without jeopardizing other basic needs, (2) the homebound elderly individual is age 60 or older and without the family unit's assistance would need to be moved to an assisted living or nursing facility, and (3), the client was assessed using the Client Assessment Tool 701A. The Provider will ensure volunteers recruited to provide services under the program are age 18 or older, pass a Level II criminal background screening in accordance with Section 430.0402, F.S., and Chapter 435, F.S.: and commit to serve at least 4 hours per week. The Provider shall ensure that volunteers participate in volunteer orientation, at least 20 hours of pre-service training before providing any services to clients and receive 3 hours of in-service training each quarter. The Provider may provide stipends to qualified volunteers, not to exceed the amount in the budget summary to the contract or the federal minimum wage, and reimbursements to volunteers to enable them to provide services at no cost to themselves. A volunteer stipend is provided for a period of service and is not an hourly wage, but may be considered income.
N/A
The Provider (and Sub-recipients) shall operate within all provisions of Section 430.071, F.S, abiding by all of the requirements to provide in-home respite at no cost to the family unit that is beyond the provisions of current public programs, with an emphasis on evening and weekend care, and during hours that a majority of day care centers are closed. The Provider shall monitor at least once per year, all subcontractors to ensure contractual compliance, fiscal accountability, programmatic performance, and compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
